COED Y BRENIN MTB TRAIL UPGRADE
New black graded trail design upgrade for MTB trail section Beginning of the End / Dragons Back, at the iconic MTB trail centre Coed y Brenin, North Wales. This section required extensive remedial maintenance work and so the client took the opportunity to give it a full modern upgrade. The work included:
- User consultation
- Design drawings and construction specifications
- Design stage, design risk assessments and method statements
- Risk management
- Trail design and on site setting out
- Prepared all construction procurement documents
- Design supervision and CDM-C role during the construction phase
“Dragons Back is a lesson in how to widen the appeal of a trail through some subtle updates. There a fine line between selecting the fashionable features that will complement an existing landscape and build profile, and creating an ugly bolt on thats so out of keeping that it detracts from the experience of the trail rather than adding to it.
The big overbuilt Dragons Back has been injected with just the right amount of berm botox to create a ride that keeps everyone happy - from the jumpy juniors to old school singletrack rattlers to big climb grinders like me!
